========================== FIRMWARE UPDATE for the A8812, A8810, A7810 and A8814 only ========================== This firmware update is v02.20.0122 for the models: A8812, A8810, A7810 and A8814. ---------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- ----------- ----------------- MD5 SUM OF FIRMWARE FILE: FIRMWARE FILE: SIZE: VERSION: ---------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- ----------- ----------------- b94a70f76de385709915561750fa057f asarm.cramfs 2895872 v02.20.0122 51c532c7c4b12774bc3f5f045cd679ad usrarm.cramfs 585728 v02.20.0122 b3df6502522ed3ff493b3021303f8381 ramdisk.gz 960846 v02.20.0122 729f292486de7babc284688a4b899720 zImage 1228424 Linux 2.6.28.10-r2.54-g3156691 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEFORE INSTALLING FIRMWARE, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SPACE ON THE ACQUISUITE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To see check the amount of flash-memory space on the AcquiSuite, browse to the AcquiSuite and login as "admin". The Welcome page will show you a bar-graph of the "Disk space used". If less than 20% space is free, please transfer log file data from the AcquiSuite. You may: a) Upload log file data to a server, or b) Download log file data to your PC using either Enertrax or FTP, or c) Login via Telnet to the AcquiSuite and delete the log file data in /var/log/modbus/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TO INSTALL VIA WEB-BROWSER: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We recommend uploading the firmware file(s) to the AcquiSuite using your web browser. Step 1: Browse to the AcquiSuite you wish to update, and login as "admin". Step 2: Locate "System" in the left-hand-side window pane. Click [+] to expand it. Step 3: Under "System", click "Firmware Versions". You should see versions of installed firmware. Step 4: Look for a button named "Have Disk" toward the bottom of the page. If no such button exists, your AcquiSuite's firmware doesn't support updating through a web-browser. Please use the "INSTALL VIA FTP" method below. Step 5: Click "Have Disk". You'll be prompted to Choose two Files. Step 6: If you haven't already, unzip the .zip file containing this "ReadMe_Firmware_Install" file. Step 7: Click the first "Choose File" button, then select the first firmware file (e.g., such as asarm.cramfs, ramdisk.gz, usrarm.cramfs, *.asmodule.cramfs). Step 8: Click the second "Choose File" button, then select the "Manifest.txt" file from the same folder. Step 9: Finally, click the "Submit" button... the firmware file you chose should upload. Step 10: If successful, you should see this message: "OS files have been successfully uploaded. Please Reboot." and "Checksum verified successfully" Step 11: If you see this, please click "Please Reboot." The AcquiSuite will install the firmware and restart itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TO INSTALL VIA FTP: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>> IMPORTANT >>> This update procedure includes a step to verify the MD5 checksum >>> IMPORTANT >>> of the firmware image prior to installing it on a system. >>> IMPORTANT >>> This vital step ensures the firmware files have been transferred >>> IMPORTANT >>> intact to the AcquiSuite. To Install via FTP: - Use an FTP client, connect to your AcquiSuite's IP address. (see note 1 below) - Use "root" as the login name, and your regular admin password. (default is "admin") - Change to the /var/log directory. e.g., type "cd /var/log" - Set the FTP transfer mode to BINARY. (Very important!) e.g., type "binary" - Upload the firmware image file. (See note 2) e.g., type "put asarm.cramfs" to place the file. Repeat for ramdisk.gz and usrarm.cramfs if these files were provided. - Do a directory listing with FTP, verify the file size matches the size listed above. e.g., type "dir" - Telnet to the AcquiSuite. - Use "root" as the login name, and your regular admin password. (default is "admin") - From the command prompt, type "cd /var/log" - Type "busybox md5sum *" - confirm the checksum reported matches the one provided with the firmware. - if the checksum does not match, type "rm asarm.cramfs" or the file name of the firmware image that does not match. >>> IMPORTANT >>> DO NOT PROCEED until you have confirmed a match of file size and MD5 checksum. >>> IMPORTANT >>> Proceeding without verifying the MD5 sum may "brick" your AcquiSuite. - Type "mv asarm.cramfs /mnt/main/upgrades/ " to move the firmware image to the upgrade directory. Repeat this step for each firmware image filename. - To see the files were renamed, type "ls -al /mnt/main/upgrades" to verify the files in the directory. - Type "sync" and then type "reboot" - Reboot the AcquiSuite, the software will be installed on boot. Use the reboot webpage menu on the AcquiSuite, or type "reboot" from the telnet/command prompt. DO NOT powercycle the AcquiSuite! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 1: If you attempt to FTP to the AcquiSuite and the FTP client stalls for a minute before giving you a "can not connect" error message, you may have a DNS issue. If your AcquiSuite is not connected to a LAN, or if AcquiSuite's DNS server is not working, the FTP connection on the AcquiSuite will wait up to 3 minutes before timing out while waiting for a DNS name resolution. WORKAROUND: from the AcquiSuite setup menu webpage, select Networking, and TCP/IP Setup. Blank out the DNS1 and DNS 2 fields and click Apply. Try your FTP connection again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 2: If you have two or three image files usrarm.cramfs, ramdisk.gz or asarm.cramfs, you should upload all three of these components at the same time. Upload each file, and then confirm the file size of each file before proceeding to the next step. The total space required by all three files is about 1800k, and may require you to delete some or all of the log data to perform this update. Updating all three firmware images at the same time will not adversely affect the upgrade, however it will resolve any dependencies between image files, and will make the process of upgrading take less time with a limited number of reboots required. When updating multiple files at the same time, it is very important to verify the file size after upload. If the AcquiSuite runs out of space on the flash chip in the middle of your upload, you will only have 1/2 of an image file. Rebooting and installing a partial image file will render the AcquiSuite inoperable. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
